Someday soon, when the horizon dims,
The connection will fade, as the last light swims.
We’ll ponder the journey, the trials we faced,
Wondering if love was worth all the haste.

Soon the calls will cease, the “miss you” will fade,
The dust will settle on memories we made.
We may never meet, nor cross paths once more,
As the echoes of laughter become folklore.
Death will pose no threat; the precious was lost,
Long before the end came, we paid the cost.
What will we do with the tokens we kept—
The cards and the ring, the promises we swept?
I’ll read through the diary, often and long,
Till reality hits me, steady and strong.
And when clarity shines like the sun in the sky,
I’ll ponder the meaning of notes left to lie.
