She waited for 3 years, the last hour felt like an eternity…

The sea called out to her. It was one place she could endure the hard rock for hours while she emersed herself in the sounds of waves. While she blocked her mind to the thoughts and plots conjuring in her conscious mind her subconscious took over.

Absorbing the sounds, the sites, the aroma of sea breeze, the twinkling stars showing up in the still golden sky and the orange globe now disappearing in the endless blue.

Magic was in the air, something different though she could not point out what It was, the whole space around her had a Vibe as she had never known. The time at sea was always sacred. No never troubled her there. No one ever went to her while she was there. It wasn’t often she visited the shores. When the days were too long to live and nights too far to die when life took unexpected turns to amaze the daylights out of for when life decided to layout the bed of roses with all Thorns Pointing out she went to the sea.

Deep down it gave her hope. It gave her a new perspective to everything that was halted for overflowing.

She could gather herself and face a new day with the vigour of germinating seed every single time. That day the sea was the only thing she knew could pull her through the moment.

The day had gone by in meticulous planning and the execution was gonna be perfect. It took her years of preparation of mind, body and to some level conscious that was now being put to test.

She took a deep breath and reviewed the plan. The surprise element had to be perfect, the timing impeccable, the lights and air conditioner temperatures controlled, she had changed the curtains from summery transparent linens to the dark heave drapes, unlike the summery ones made the inside view invisible to the outer world. The drapes also played a key role in acoustics, the muffled sounds were now not reaching out and with the window seal locked no man could make out what was happening inside with all the lights on, let along without them.

The room was arranged to a specific order, the sitting where she would have him, the place where he would stand, the source of light just enough for her to capture the emotions of fear mixed with surprise on his face.

The doors of the other rooms were shut, the material to wrap up aftermath was carefully arranged under the kitchen sink. The bottle of water with just enough water to quench his thirst for a while and just two wine glasses with a bottle of merlot kept ready, gave an impression of something sinister yet normalcy at the same time.

The stage was set, the backup plan ready, extra help and her best friend waiting for her signal to execute the post math of the surprize.

His flight was running late, she’d waited for three years but this hour was the longest and sure felt like an eternity.

She took a deep breath, gathered herself and stood up to walk back to the house. She was just about to open the house door when she heard the purr of the car in the rather quiet neighbourhood. She had missed the fact that he coming in so late was bound to turn a few lights on, in the street on which she lived.

She quickly entered the house, did her last-minute checks. She had forgotten to keep the knife in the place. From the kitchen drawer, she picked the chopper. It was the easiest one to handle, besides she had recently sharpened it, so it was lying on the top of everything else. She got it out and kept it on the centre table.

Just then the car pulled in the driveway. Like any other night assuming she would be out on her night shift, he searched for the key in the usual places, retrieved it and opened the door. He tried switching on the lights but they didn’t work.

As she had anticipated he sat exactly where she wanted him to and as soon as he was done drinking the water from the bottle, she sprung at him with a knife …

“Happy Birthday Darling” she wished and out came the friends from behind the shut doors, capturing his emotions on their cell phones…..
