it had been a long hot day. streets of the city can sometimes be unforgiving, long hours in the scorching sun where making it impossible for her to breathe. the water she had acquired with so much efforts to start with had turned into luke warm salty and muddy liquid which coated the inside of the throat more than quenching thirst.
She looked around for respite but there was none in sight. she could barely see an acknowledgement of her existence. Shadows around had acquired more importance for she could see others scrambling for it.
just then when she was about beg for water again to another unknown face all prepared to hushed away she saw the shop… around the block was a shop that had always been a mystery for her. the general rule for her and alike was that they were not supposed to be a part of that land, that shop and some more surrounding it were for privileged lot, the ones who had fine skin and never walked, they always had cars they sat in and roamed everywhere. shop could be observed from a distance which would not make these fine skin demigods feel irked and so she stood holding on to a red telephone booth watching as the shop keeper filled the container. the container was sweating, it was white swirl pointing up, glistening in the sun like the clear blue water reflecting the morning sunlight.. fond memories of her native came rushing to her filling her with this uncontrollable urge of wanting to taste the water again and then the curiosity of what was the white swirl all about, the shopkeeper adorned it with colourful beads … she wonder what fascination gripped the fine skin that compelled them to eat mud cause for the final step of his performance he poured what looked like mud sludge on it and topped it with big red bead.
she waited there watching with dismay and curiosity all at the same time as the demigods sat under the big colourful umbrellas and devoured the swirls. the burning thirst and hot sun now had started playing games. she could feel herself wanting the swirl, she didn’t know what it was, how it was, did the big red bead and sludge tasted good, but she knew that demi gods were delighted licking it, she could see them taste the swirls and smile in victory, by now she knew what ever they were eating was helping them stay off the heat..
the curiosity was now taking hold of her and without a thought she was now standing right in front of the shop, braving all the insult and knowing she was not privileged enough to ask for it she stood there staring at the demigods eating their share of divinity. soon she saw one of the fine skins wave to her and without a thought her legs started walking towards him, he offered her what was left of the swirl in the container, wiping her hands to her half torn clothes she held the container and looked at the sludge in it, half white half brown.. the colourful beads and sludge were still remained…
she held the container in her fragile hands with all the might she could. unable to decide whether to eat it or drink it she stood there lost in her own little heaven all delighted to have won the privileged of tasting the divinity.
she managed to sight a spoon thrown on the road a little distance from her, it looked clean she argued with her self and quickly she picked it up. cleaned it with her clothes and dipped it in the container trying to scoop what was left on to the spoon . her spoon was filled with magic sludge and white swirl and she was about to put it in her mouth now,
when another fine skin demigod bumped passed her shoving her to the side of the road and abusing the shopkeeper for attracting and entertaining the lowlife in the high end area. the commotion soon caught shopkeepers eye and she was hushed away from the site.
in all the chaos that happened the container now stood facing down on the street with what was left of the sludge all spilled over the road… she looked at it all shattered contemplating would braving the shopkeeper again in an attempt to pick it up off the road be worth it
