She stood there for a while
Holding her little box
Treasures it held
Little diamond and stones,
The pearl necklace and small ivory bow.
She stood there for a while
Watching people come and go
Keeping things and parting with memories
Sense of fear filled her soul
She stood there for a while
Knowing what comes next
To part with her treasure
For need, made loves’ worth little less
She stood there for a while
Worried she might not get anything back
She knew this was her chance
To create an excuse and turn back
Yet she went ahead clutching her box
She knew now that was her last resort
Parting with the memories was tougher than she thought
Tears flowing freely as she left the pawn shop
Very well written. Simple. Clear!
